TikTok finally reacts to viral milk crate challenge

Popular video sharing platform, TikTok, is set to take necessary actions on the viral crate challenge which is currently causing a stir on the internet.

According to Fast Company, the platform rebuked the “dangerous acts” and affirmed that it will see to the removal of contents that glorifies such acts.

TikTok also warned its users to desist from acts that will harm them.

A statement released by TikTok reads, “TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content. We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”

 

What is Crate Challenge?

The challenge surfaced for the first time on August 1, 2021, on Facebook. It involves stacking some milk crates into stairs and forming a pyramid with it. Then, a participant is expected to climb up to the top of the pyramid-shaped crates and climb back down without destroying the structure.

This viral crate challenge has set social media ablaze, and it appears to be causing more pain than fun as many videos display fatal falls by participants of the challenge.

Though no one has been reported to have been injured as a result of the challenge, doctors have warned social media users from joining it.
