At the just released 2024 Nigeria Law School Bar Finals Result, three graduates of Lagos State University (LASU) have distinguished themselves, earning First Class honours in one of the toughest legal examinations in the country.

The trio, Mariam Amoke Makanjuola, Owodina Mojisola, and Lawal Maryam, were among the top-performing candidates nationwide, making list of only 260 of over 7,000 candidates securing First Class honours.

Mariam Makanjuola, an indigene of Ikorodu in Lagos State, graduated from LASU with a Second Class Upper Division (CGPA 4.20).

BlackBox Nigeria reported earlier that she was a recipient of the Lagos State Government Scholarship for academic excellence and later the Perfecient Law School Scholarship, which covered her tuition and provided a stipend.

Her success at the Nigerian Law School places her in the top two percent of candidates in the 2024 bar finals.

Also, Owodina Mojisola’s academic journey spanned ten years, beginning with an unsuccessful attempt to gain direct admission into law.

She eventually obtained a diploma from LASPOTECH before gaining admission to LASU. Her perseverance paid off with a First Class at the Law School.

Describing her journey as a decade-long pursuit, she attributed her achievement to faith, determination, and resilience.

The second overall Best student, Lawal Maryam, another LASU alumna, achieved the rare feat of earning First Class honours both at LASU and the Nigerian Law School, a milestone often referred to as the “Double First Class.”

She expressed gratitude to her family and mentors for supporting her academic journey.

Their performance adds to LASU’s growing reputation for producing top legal minds and reinforces the university’s standing among the nation’s leading law faculties.
