All three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators representing Kebbi State have officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The senators, Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) announced their defection on Tuesday during plenary at the National Assembly.
Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, who presided over the session, read their individual letters of defection on the Senate floor.
Their move marks a major gain for the APC in Kebbi State and further consolidates the ruling party’s influence in the National Assembly.
While the senators did not immediately state their reasons during the plenary, their defection aligns with ongoing political realignments ahead of future elections.
The development reduces the PDP’s representation in the Senate and raises fresh questions about the decision of Senator Adamu Aliero who failed to win APC’s ticket in the last general election before going to PDP.
