Lagos State Government has announced the total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge to all traffic for 3 days.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday.
The closure, which is to enable the completion of repair works on the double-sized expansion joints without any interruptions, is scheduled to commence Saturday, January 30 to Monday, February 1, 2021.
Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, while explaining the decision said “the bridge repair works are being done assiduously to ensure that the set deadline for reopening the entire bridge to motorists is met,” adding that motorists are implored to cooperate with the traffic management authorities to ease the stress the closure might cause.
The commissioner further advised, “motorists driving from Ogudu, Alapere and Gbagada to use Ikorodu Road, Jibowu and Yaba as alternative routes
“While Iyana-Oworonsoki bound traffic from the Lagos Island, Iddo, Oyingbo, Adekunle and Yaba should use Herbert Macaulay Way, Jibowu and Ikorodu Road as alternative routes.”
