The candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming senatorial bye-election in December 5, 2020, Tokunbo Abiru has reiterated that governance is about the ability to measure up to unforeseen happenstances, demands and challenges that might occur in the course of leading the people. He stated this in reference to the #EndSARS crisis that disrupted the earlier scheduled October 31, 2020 bye-election to fill the vacant senatorial seat of the Lagos East senatorial district in Lagos.
During an interactive session with media men at his campaign office in Ikorodu, the economist said he “totally align with the aspirations and agitation of the youths in demanding for better security architecture in the country that is safe and devoid of undue harassment of innocent citizens”. Abiru, the immediate former managing director of Polaris Bank, asserted that crisis and crisis management are expected occurrences in governance. “What matters most is the ability to prove your mettle as a good crisis manager. There is no good time to lead”, he averred.
The Lagos State University (LASU) graduate further assured the people of Lagos East senatorial district that he remains committed to the institutionalization of enduring empowerment and endowment that will cater for the youths, vulnerable and women in the district.
While assuring the people of Lagos East of quality representation at the Senate, Abiru said, “I am passionate about service. That is my training as a banker. You must give effective and timely service to be respected as a banker. I will give all I have to the service of the people”.
