The omoluabi race ( now corrupted as YORUBA) had a cultural heritage with impactful language, customs and practices that shape life positively and add values to living with humanity orientation which led to the development of omoluabi value system.

By the omoluabi value system, money was just a means to an end which must be got with modesty without assisanating our humane personality and self worth . Consequently, money wasn’t the focus of the omoluabi value system though part of it.

To learn and earn from the omoluabi value system, find below a chronological x-ray of the elements of behavioural pattern in the omoluabi race:

1. The first is làákà’yè – The application of knowledge, wisdom & understanding… (Ogbón and ìmò òye)

2. Ìwa irẹlẹ̄ pelu itẹ́riba ( Humility and Reespect) The ọmọluabi value system emphises respect snd humility to be a very sacrosanct behaviour, character and attitude that guide our altitude ( Igberaga ni man saaju ipaarun; ẹ̀ni rẹ ara re nilẹ́ oluwa yio gbegaa are some of the indicstions of the values)

3. The third is Kasọrọ ka ba bẹ̄ – (integrity) Someone with integrity is a man/woman of their words. If you have all the wealth in the world but lack integrity, you are not worth a thing. Integrity is combined with iwa, (character) which we regard as bibi ire.

4. The fourth is Akínkanjú or Akin – (Valour and bravery).
Ibi toba le lati man ba omokurin, mi olewaku kin jogun ile baba rẹ́. To lead with great courage in the face of danger, especially in battle.

Ọmọluabi people have no respect for cowards.

5. The fifth is Anísélápá tí kìíse òle – (Having a visible means of livelihood).

A person must be identified with a visible means of livelihood that guarantees a lawful income or sustenance. His or her profession or job must be open and legally approved by society, and not through cheating or forcefulness.

6. The sixth is iyi – (Honour) kaarọ ojiré people place a premium on the gait with which individuals carry themselves and public reputation.

That is why omoluabi people usually say when you set out to look for money and you meet honour on the way then you don’t need the journey anymore, because if you get the money, you will still use it to buy honour.

7. The seventh value in the omoluabi value system is owó tàbí orò – (Money or wealth). To yoruba, Iṣẹ̀ ni ogun iṣẹ́, òwóó ni muni la ( Paid job is the antidote to poverty while business is the key to wealth)

8. Ajumọse pelu Iranra èni lọwọ ( Collaboration through cooperation and support) is another value system germane to the omoluabis

9. Imu adehun ṣẹ pelu ifohun ṣokun lai si abosi (Fulfilling promises with objective one voice)

10. Ibawi ati ẹtọ ṣiṣe ( Cautioning and Doing the Right Thing). The omoluabi values system also emphasized in high degree cautioning by correction when one erred and encourage doing what will salvage than soil one’s name.

11. Irẹwon tabi Iwonba ( Modesty) Avoiding extremism in action and dressing.the quality, in men and women, of dressing or behaving in a way that is intended to avoid attracting sexual interest or going above board.

Putting money ahead of the others was not the practice and custom of the omoluabi anago (corrupted to yoruba) so if you put money and wealth ahead then you are nobody in the land of omo kaarọ ajiirebí in the olden days.

*Alas! It is so unfortunate today, that civilisation without civility , modernisation without modesty, curiosity devoid of caution and leadership without humanity have pushed over the bar these values, it’s high time we redirect our course back to the days to build attitude and aptitude that guarantee altitude for humanity*

Our lives and living will be better if we can adopt the omoluabi value system in our daily activities…Aseyé ni alakan n se epo!
