The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Lagos State, Olalekan Biliamin has said the older generation is afraid of the present and coming generations.
Mr Biliamin stated this on Thursday at the panel session organized by the Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths (CIDY).
The event, which was held at the 500-seater auditorium of the Lagos State Polytechnic, had several dignitaries in attendance.
A former commissioner for information and strategy in Lagos State and two-term council chairman, Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan, was the keynote speaker. The panel was chaired by the Rector of the Lagos State Polytechnic, Dr Nurudeen Olaleye.
The youth leader’s statement came during the discussion at the event which was centered on working towards a better and effective local government administration in the State.
“There is a fear in the older generation that the present generation are not capable of handling things in politics or things government related,” he said.
Mr Biliamin further urged the leaders to engage the younger generation, stressing that the youth constituency must be carried along as they have a lot to offer.
He concluded by assuring them that if the youths are given a chance, they would show that they are capable and wouldn’t disappoint.
