Tension as MC Oluomo takes over Lagos NURTW secretariat, sends acting administrator packing

In a rather shocking move, the sacked Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo has reportedly taken over the union’s secretariat.

According to The Guild, the acting administrator of the Lagos NURTW, Oluwaseyi Bankole made the accusation, saying MC Oluomo also chased out staff of NURTW from the premises.

Bankole alleged that the former transport union leader, who was recently appointed to head the Lagos State Parks Management Committee, claimed to be acting on the orders of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

He also accused MC Oluomo of forcefully taking ownership of all properties belonging to NURTW, and barred the union members including the acting administrator from gaining access to the secretariat after deploying members of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and other armed men to the premises.

Speaking in an interview with the news platform, Bankole revealed that MC Oluomo seized the Lagos NURTW secretariat two days before he was appointed as the Head of the Lagos State Parks Management Committee.

“And before the final takeover, my office was burgled and the union tickets worth over N30 million were carted away and investigations revealed that it had been sold to members across the state,” he alleged.

Reacting to the development, the NURTW National President, Tajudeen Baruwa said the transport union will allow the Lagos State Government to address the matter and return the NURTW secretariat to its members.

Recall that before his recent appointment, MC Oluomo was suspended by the transport union’s national body over allegations of misconducts and insubordination in negation of the NURTW constitution.

The NURTW also recently dissolved the administrative council of the Lagos State chapter and appointed the State Secretary, Bankole as the acting administrator.
