Chaos erupted in Tanzania on Thursday as protesters took to the streets following a disputed general election marred by the disqualification and detention of key opposition figures.
Amid the unrest, reports emerged claiming that a fashion store belonging to popular Tanzanian singer, Juma Jux, had been targeted by demonstrators.
A viral post by an X user, Bolaji Fesomade, alleged that the luxury store was set ablaze during the protests.
However, Juma Jux’s wife, Priscilla Ojo, refuted claims that the store was burned down.
Taking to Snapchat, she clarified that the property was vandalized and looted, not destroyed by fire.
“Looted not burnt,” she wrote.
Protesters are demanding the cancellation of the election results, citing widespread irregularities in the presidential vote.
The situation has raised tensions nationwide, leaving both public property and private businesses vulnerable to attack as demonstrations grow more intense.
