Following his second-half appearance for England national team in the match against Albania, Tammy Abraham claimed that Jose Mourinho has made him a monster.

The former Chelsea player lauded the efforts of his Roma boss, Mourinho, in training him to be a striker. This he revealed when asked, during an interview session with Sky Sport, what ‘The Special One’ has been teaching him.

“Just a monster really!” Abraham said, while explaining the impact of Jose Mourinho on his development.

“I think one of the things he said was I was too much of a nice player and that you have to show that aggressiveness as you’re getting older as a striker. It’s not always about being nice on the pitch. You need that character, you need that presence to frighten defenders and I think that’s something I’m learning and getting better at,” he said.

Despite being off-form due to Roma’s recent poor performances, Tammy Abraham made it to the call-up list of England’s manager, Gareth Southgate. He is considered significant for the national team – a merit attained for being under Mourinho’s mentorship.

Although renowned for his arrogant attitude and uncoordinated outbursts, Jose Mourinho has developed an habit of nurturing individual players to derive the best from them. The Portugese tends to place much trust and confidence in any player he realizes great potential. During his first stint at Chelsea, he brought the best out of Drogba. He did same with Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid.

Though his stay at Manchester United was short-lived, Mourinho managed to ignite Romelu Lukaku before he was shipped to Inter Milan. Prior to the signing of Tammy Abraham from Chelsea, the Roma boss had boasted of making a monster out of young Tammy.

However, Tammy Abraham revealed the challenges he faced when he arrived at Roma in search for regular football.

“It’s always tough, moving and going to experience a different country and different cultur. I felt the sooner I settled in the better, and started learning different types of football and different styles. I’ve gone to spread my wings and hopefully I can keep up the level of performances I need to stay in the team,” the 24-year-old said.

Despite his recent drop in form, Tammy Abraham has managed to score 5 goals in 17 matches across all competitions for Roma.
