By Winners have emerged at the maiden edition of T.O.S Benson Essay Competition which was held to celebrate the extraordinary life of an illustrious indigene of Ikorodu Division, Chief Theophilus Owolabi Shobowale Benson (SAN).
The contest was proudly sponsored by T.A Bamgbose Foundation in partnership with Ikorodu Ambassadors Group.
It was targeted at bright young minds from government-owned secondary school students in Ikorodu Division, and aimed to reward their brilliance, creativity, exceptional hard-work and research enthusiasm.
No fewer than 20 students participated in the essay competition, and after rigorous scrutinizing by three (3) solid panel of judges, four (4) students who performed outstandingly among others emerged winners. There was, however, a tie between two (2) students who came second position, while others got certificate of participation.
A sum of One hundred and fifty thousand naira, (N150,000) was disbursed as cash prize for winners of the competition at the grand finale held on Wednesday.
The first position got One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000), the second place got Forty Thousand Naira (N40,000), while the third position received Ten Thousand Naira (N10,000).
Akinkuowo Daniel Oluwatise from Government Senior Model College, Owutu, Ikorodu emerged the winner. The second position was jointly clinched by Adeleke Umar Adedayo of Ikorodu Senior High School and Aderinale Fatimah Adeola from Lagos State Girls’ Senior Model College. Ikorodu Senior High School student, Adekunle Nofisat Ajoke took the third place.
Meanwhile, the organisers said the project will be an annual program to scout and encourage bright young minds in the division, creating a vibrant community of young creative talents and future leaders by providing academic support and mentorship to the winners.
