Suspected DSS Operatives Forcefully Arrests Sahara Reporters Publisher, Sowore In Lagos
The Publisher of online news medium Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has been reportedly arrested by operatives suspected to be officials of the Department of State Security Services, BlackBox Nigeria has learnt.
It was reported that the activist cum politician was arrested in a forceful manner in the wee hours of Saturday, August 3rd. The arrest comes barely two days before a planned nationwide protest to demand a revolution in Nigeria, where citizens have long expressed frustration amidst acute insecurity and worsening poverty.
Narrating how it all happened, an eyewitness who described himself as the driver of Mr Sowore stated that the operatives forced their way into the house at about 1:00AM. He narrated this on WhatsApp which was later shared to an unnamed individual simply called SUG Leader Lagos who then forwarded it to Deji Adeyanju, a known activist based in Abuja.
At the point of invasion, BBN360 gathered that before the eventual arrest, the publisher sent a distress tweet, “DSS invades Sowore’s” and attempted to run (as described by his response to the tweet “Ja p“) just before he was seized and all his gadgets withdrawn from him.
