What Supreme Court Judgement Against Rotimi Akeredolu Meant – Barrister Mubarak Tijani

As against public perception about the immediate consequences of the supreme court judgement delivered this morning, in a brief discussion with BlackBox Nigeria, Abuja based lawyer, Mubarak Tijani (Sagacious), has interpreted the judgment delivered in the Rotimi Akeredolu Vs Abraham case for public understanding.

“Basically what the court said in the above judgement is to the effect that the Appeal itself should not have been filed owing to the fact that what Abraham prays for is just an order to serve Akeredolu all court processes by another means other than personal service of the processes on him in person.

“It means that Abraham can now serve Akeredolu all court processes relating to the matter by substituted means hitherto by pasting on the front door of his last known address, or by newspaper publication and or by sending same through courier service to government house in Ondo State.

” The appeal in itself is frivolous and an abuse of court processes. What the Respondent in the Appeal sought is just an Order of the Honourable Court for substituted service which no lawyer should oppose let alone filing an appeal up to the apex court in the Country. The appeal filed is an affront to the dispensation and administration of justice which the supreme court frown at, at all times.”
