Super Falcons captain and forward, Asisat Oshoala has signed a new contract with Barcelona Femeni, the La Liga and Women’s Champions League holders.
On Thursday, the Nigerian international signed the contract extension that will keep her at the club until June 30, 2024.
“Asisat Oshoala has renewed his contract with FC Barcelona until 30 June 2024,” a statement from the club read.
“The striker, who had just finished her relationship with the club at the end of the season, has sealed her continuity for another two years with president Joan Laporta and manager Xavier Puig, in the Camp Nou presidential office.”
The four-time African Women’s Player of the Year also expressed her excitement to remain “with the best team in the world”. “I’m really happy and excited to continue the journey the best team in the world,” she told Barca TV.
“It is not just because of the trophies. The management has done a good job to help every player improve on and off the pitch. I have learnt a lot being here.”
The versatile 27-year-old joined Barcelona in 2019 after spells at Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chinese side Dalian Quanjian. She has secured 101 appearances for the Spanish giant, scoring 80 goals.
However, Oshoala is out of action for her club with a thigh injury after making 16 appearances and scoring 19 goals so far this season.
