Amid controversies surrounding the increase in the tuition fees for the 2021/2022 academic session, the Lagos State Polytechnic’s Students Union Government has given a prompt reaction to the development.
The Union released a broadcast message across several students’ WhatsApp platforms, urging the aggrieved students to exercise patience with the school’s administration.
According to the broadcast which was signed by the SUG President, Comrade Balogun Aderemi, and the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Adesina Wonuola, the Union duly acknowledge the latest development while assuring the students of a positive feedback as soon as possible.
“It has come to our notice that there’s been a sudden increments in our school fees. However, this also is a formal appeal to every students to keep calm and trust that a message will be relayed across concerning the increment.
“This is also a gentle appeal to the general students to hold on concerning the payment of school fees.
“The Students’ Union Government is concerned and also working tirelessly on their end to ensure there’s a positive feedback as soon as possible,” the broadcast read in part.
Meanwhile, this sudden change in tuition is coming after Lagos State Government approved the conversion of the Polytechnic into University. While some students opined that the development must have been the cause of the sudden increase of the tuition fee, some believed it is a usual occurrence in the institution — even before the approval of its conversion into a University.
