Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has taken measures to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal on the citizens.
He announced a significant 50 percent reduction in transportation fare for state-owned transport systems during a security council meeting at the State House in Ikeja on Monday
While speaking, Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed that commercial transporters were planning to cut their prices by 25 percent throughout the metropolis.
Starting from Wednesday, 2nd August, all government-operated transportation vehicles will implement the 50 percent fare reduction, aimed at lessening the financial burden on the people.
Furthermore, the governor assured the distribution of foodstuff to support vulnerable individuals and further cushion the effects of subsidy removal.
To facilitate civil servants’ movement, Sanwo-Olu pledged to increase the availability of buses and reduce their transportation costs.
