Tension and frustration gripped passengers at the popular Jibowu motor park in Lagos after a failed overnight trip to Abuja left dozens stranded without assistance, refunds, or communication from the transport company involved.

According to a distressed passenger who shared their ordeal with BlackBox Nigeria early Tuesday morning, travelers bound for Abuja had been stuck at the terminal since 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, and faced a night of uncertainty, fatigue, and silence from the company’s staff.

The passengers, who boarded a bus shortly after midnight at 12:45 a.m. on July 8, said the vehicle developed issues almost immediately after departure.

The bus reportedly climbed the Ojota bridge, turned back to Ojota, and then proceeded to Maryland before being forced to return to the company’s Jibowu terminal by 2:05 a.m.

Since then, no staff member has reportedly appeared to explain the situation, address passenger concerns, or offer any form of compensation or apology.

“This is 7:37 a.m., and we are still here. Our luggage is locked with them, no alternative bus has been provided, and not a single staff has come forward to speak to us. No refunds, no apologies. We are stranded,” the passenger reported.

The passenger, who identified as a victim of the situation, made a public plea through this report to draw attention to the incident and highlight what they described as inhumane and negligent treatment by the transport company.

Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed the frustration of the passengers, many of whom are believed to have missed appointments, events, and business engagements due to the breakdown and lack of resolution.

The name of the transport company involved is E. Ekeaons Transport Company and at the time of filing this report, no statement has been made by the authorities to clarify the situation.

The passengers are calling on relevant authorities, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, to intervene and hold the company accountable.

Several affected individuals have also demanded that the Consumer Protection Council investigate the matter and enforce compensation for wasted time, emotional stress, and breach of service.
