Speed Darlington finally regains freedom after five days in detention for defaming Burna Boy

In a dramatic turn of events, the Federal High Court has ordered the release of Nigerian singer Speed Darlington also known as Akpi following his detention in connection with a defamation case filed by Burna Boy.

The ruling comes just hours after socialite Cubana Chief Priest vowed to assist Speed Darlington in securing his freedom amid their ongoing public feud with Burna Boy.

The court’s decision mandates that Abubakar Marshal, Esq. act as surety for the singer, ensuring his release while the case continues to unfold.

Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the court’s order via an X post on Monday, noting the significance of the ruling.

“The Federal High Court has directed the Nigerian Police to comply with the order to release Speed Darlington immediately, pending the hearing of the substantive matter,” Adeyanju wrote. “The court further directs Abubakar Marshal, Esq. to stand as surety to Akpi.”

The case, which has attracted significant media attention, stems from a defamation suit filed by Burna Boy against Speed Darlington, further fueling the ongoing tension between the two artists.

The court’s intervention has been welcomed by supporters of the singer, who are hopeful for his swift return to the public eye as the legal battle continues.
