The remains of Nigerian singer and songwriter, Olanrewaju Fasasi, aka Sound Sultan, who died after battling cancer, will be laid to rest in the United States.
The deceased’s family made this known in the obituary poster released to announce his funeral arrangements.
Sound Sultan will be buried in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday, July 11, according to Islamic rites.
BlackBox Nigeria reported that the music legend passed away following a hard fought battle with Angiommunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, according to a statement by his family.
The 44-year-old was diagnosed with throat cancer, and had been undergoing chemotherapy in a hospital in the United States of America.
Recall that in May, it was widely reported that the versatile artist was diagnosed with throat cancer and undergoing medical treatment in the United States of America.
But the musician denied the report in an Instagram post where he appreciated fans for their “massive love”, adding that he would tell the story of his struggles himself.
The singer’s elder brother Baba Dee, who confirmed his illness, also debunked the report of cancer.

He is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings.
