The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has been re-elected for a second term after securing victory in all 21 local government areas of the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra. The results announced by INEC showed that Soludo recorded a total of 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Valentine Ozigbo, and that of the Labour Party, Obiora Agbasimalo, followed behind with lower vote counts across the 21 local government areas.
The election results showed that Soludo maintained a wide margin in strongholds such as Awka South, Aguata, Nnewi North, Onitsha North, and Orumba South, consolidating his earlier lead during the collation of results.
The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Abayomi Fashina, who announced the outcome at the INEC Collation Centre in Awka, said Soludo fulfilled all constitutional requirements by polling the highest number of votes and winning at least one quarter of the votes cast in more than two thirds of the local government areas in the state.
He was subsequently declared the winner and returned elected as the Governor of Anambra State.
The ceremony for the presentation of Soludo’s certificate of return is expected to take place at the INEC headquarters in Awka in the coming days.
