Governor Chukwuma Soludo has emerged as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the upcoming November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.

Soludo, who was the sole aspirant in the race, secured the party’s ticket during the APGA primary held on Saturday at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Uche Nwegbo, said a total of 3,260 delegates were expected, with 3,175 accredited. Of the 3,172 votes cast, four were invalid, while Soludo received 3,168 affirmative votes with no dissenting votes.

“By the powers conferred on me, I hereby declare Prof. Chukwuma Soludo as the candidate of our party,” Nwegbo declared.

In his acceptance speech, Soludo described the nomination as a “historic display of solidarity” and reaffirmed his commitment to the continued transformation of Anambra State.

“Anambra is APGA and APGA is Anambra. I am humbled by this historic display of solidarity. I accept this nomination wholeheartedly,” the governor said.

He lauded the peaceful conduct of the primary and expressed gratitude to party members, support groups, and INEC observers for their roles in the exercise.

Soludo also announced that his current deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, would remain his running mate in the 2025 election.

“If it’s not broken, why mend it?” he said, emphasizing the success of their partnership.

With an eye on the general election, the governor voiced confidence in his chances at the polls.

“We will win all 21 local governments, the 326 wards, and maybe even all the polling units. We want to make a statement,” he said.
