Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has announced that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its preferred candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The declaration was made during President Tinubu’s one-day working visit to Anambra on Thursday, at a rally held at the Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo said: “Progressives are working together.”
He noted that both APGA and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) share common ideological ground rooted in progressivism, and would henceforth align in national political collaboration.
This move signals a strengthened political development in APC as Tinubu’s political wings grows everyday with massive defection from opposition parties.
Founded by associates of the late Biafra warlord, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, APGA has produced the governors of Anambra state since 2003 including Peter Obi, who was one of President Tinubu’s political opponent in the 2023 general election.
Earlier, President Tinubu was in Anambra to inaugurate several projects, including the state’s first Government House, the Emeka Anyaoku Centre at UNIZIK, and the Light of the Nation Tower, among others.
