In a significant political development, Hon. Babatunde Dosunmu has been elected as the Speaker of the Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Legislative Council, an APC dominated house and council.

Dosunmu, representing Ward D, Abule Oja, was the sole opposition councillor elected during the recent local government elections in Lagos State.

His emergence as Speaker is noteworthy, given that he was the only councillor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to secure a seat in the council, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) dominated the remaining positions.

Dosunmu’s election has been met with widespread reactions, with many viewing it as a testament to his leadership qualities and the trust placed in him by his peers.

Supporters and political observers have taken to social media to congratulate him, highlighting the significance of his new role in promoting inclusive governance within the Yaba LCDA.

As Speaker, Dosunmu is expected to lead the legislative arm of the council, ensuring that the voices of all constituents are represented and that the council’s activities align with the needs and aspirations of the Yaba community.
