Snake-Guarded Drug Den Uncovered by NDLEA in Edo State Raid

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has disclosed the uncovering of a shrine in Edo State used for storing illicit drugs, guarded by a snake. During the operation in Igor community, Benin City, NDLEA operatives found a specially constructed large hole hidden behind wallpapers and fetish objects inside the shrine.

According to a statement by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy for NDLEA, the raid resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, Loud, Colorado, and Arizona, potent strains of cannabis weighing a total of 8.743kg.

Babafemi’s statement read, “NDLEA operatives raided a shrine guarded by a snake in Igor community, Benin City, Edo State, uncovering a specially constructed large hole behind wallpapers and fetish objects used for drug storage. They seized various illicit substances, including methamphetamine, Loud, Colorado, and Arizona, with a total weight of 8.743kg, extracted from the deep hole dug in the shrine’s wall.”

During the operation conducted on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, two women, Sonia Chinonso Ezumezu and Risikatu Tijani, were apprehended, and the snake guarding the shrine was neutralized.
