Singer Simi in trouble over alleged theft
Yes, you read that right. Talented music act, Simi has been dragged into a theft scandal in what appears to be a major setback to the singer’s career.

Simi has been accused of Intellectual property theft by legendary music star, Victor Uwaifo over her hit single, ‘Joromi’. The iconic musician who was once a commissioner in Edo State has revealed that Simi who is signed unto Steve Babaeko’s X3M music failed to seek his consent before using ‘Joromi’ as a title of her single which was one of the favorite tracks in her debut album, ‘Simisola’.

While this is not the first time he is speaking on the issues, Professor Victor Uwaifo again made the accusation at an annual General meeting of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) in Lagos.
Professor Victor Uwaifo disclosed that Simi stole from him by contravening copyright laws. He further said that the name ‘Joromi’ never existed until he coined it decades ago. He also accused pop music act, Jaywon of the same offence for using the same title.
Only days ago, pop act Tekno made up with veteran singers, Mad Melon and Mountain Black (Danfo Drivers) after the duo accused him of stealing their song ‘Kpolongo’ which he changed into ‘Jogodo’.
