Nigerian singer and songwriter, John Ighodaro professionally known as Johnny Drille, is the latest father in the Nigerian music industry after welcoming his first child with his wife, Rima Tahini Ighodaro.
The 33-year-old broke the news via an Instagram post on Thursday, revealing that his daughter, Amaris Esohe Ighodaro, was born at exactly 1:33 AM on November 17, 2023.
“Six weeks ago today, we held in our arms our daughter for the first time. It’s hard to explain, but it’s the most miraculous thing I’ve ever known,” he wrote in the heartwarming post.
“Never felt a greater sense of purpose to protect and to nurture. Every day I pray to God to help me be the best father for our daughter, so help me, God.”
Recalling the pains of childbirth, Johnny Drille heaped praises on his wife, thanking her for her strength.
“Dear @rimouuune I’m in awe of your strength. I’ve seen you go through real pain the last few months, but you stayed strong for our baby and for me. Been watching you take on motherhood with so much grace. Something more exciting about raising this child with you.”
The Mavin Records signee and his heartthrob got married secretly on January 4, 2022. This was gathered from an Instagram post by Rima on January 5, 2023, marking their one-year anniversary.
She wrote at the time, “Exactly a year ago yesterday— the most beautiful day, and it has been the most beautiful first year of marriage. I am filled with gratitude to God everyday and look forward to forever by his grace.”
Johnny Drille later released a single titled “The Best Part”, a love song was dedicated to his wife, Rima, who is also an A&R executive with Mavin Records.
