By A Nigerian journalist, Jesse Tafida has been thrown into a state of palpable shock after he lost his wife, Mercy IIiya to the cold hands of death, barely two weeks after they tied the knot.
According to reports, the couple got married on Saturday, April 30 in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. Little did Tafida, a TVC correspondent, know that his bride would only spend some days in their matrimonial journey.
It was gathered that the bride passed away twelve days after walking down the aisle with her heartthrob.
Daily Trust reported that the unfortunate incident began on May 10, when the new couple sprayed insecticide into their bedroom and the wife who was an asthmatic patient started to develop complications.
In a rush to save her life, Tafida drove his wife to the hospital, where she received urgent medical assistance and was discharged that day.
On getting home, Iliya’s condition worsened barely 24 hours after, forcing her husband to return her to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead by the doctors.
Reacting to the tragic news, devastated friends, family members and colleagues of the journalist have taken to social media express their shock over the death and mourn the new bride.
