Nollywood has again been thrown into mourning after legendary actor, Gbenga Richards died following a long-time battle with an unknown ailment.
According to reports, the movie icon who was known for his exceptional acting skills and baritone voice breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday. He was reportedly in his 60s.
Richards was said to have suffered from several ailments include diabetes, forcing some of his colleagues and friends to raise funds to his medical treatment sometime in 2021.
The deceased was one of the popular faces that graced Nigerian screens in the 1990s and early 2000s.
He made his acting debut in 1977 when he represented Nigeria alongside late movie legend, Hubert Ogunde at the Second World Black and African Festival of African Culture (FESTAC).
The talented Richards who would go on feature in blockbuster movies like ‘Sango’, ‘Mirror in the Sun’, ‘Betrayal by Love’, ‘Fighting Machine’, among others.
