Shock as ex-president Jonathan reportedly involved in car crash

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan has been reportedly involved in a car accident while on his way to his residence in Abuja, the nation’s capital from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.

According to reports, the crash occured on Wednesday afternoon. However, the cause of the accident remains unconfirmed at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, the ECOWAS Special Envoy was spotted at the National Hospital Abuja after the accident, BlackBox Nigeria cannot independently verify if casualties were recorded from the scene.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Ikechukwu Eze, the former Nigerian leader expressed deep sadness over the unfortunate tragic death of two police officers attached to him.

“Dr. Jonathan noted with sadness that the deceased, Inspectors Ibrahim Abazi and Yakubu Toma, were fine officers who were dedicated to their duties and service to the nation.

“Two other officers sustained injuries in the accident which involved a car conveying the security men. They were rushed to a hospital in Abuja where they are responding to treatment.

“The office of the former President has offered condolences to the families of the bereaved and the Police High Command,” the statement read in part.
