The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has secured the gubernatorial ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to seek a second term in office.
Makinde was declared winner of the PDP governorship primary election held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba in Ibadan, the state capital, on Wednesday.
He scored 1,040 votes to beat his closest contender, Azeem Gbolarumi, who polled only two votes, according to the results announced by the returning officer, Abdulahi Maibasira.
Meanwhile, the governor has reacted to the victory, thanking party members for their support and votes, urging them to take the support further at the polls in 2023.
