Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has once again demonstrated his commitment to community development with the near completion of the SAIL Innovation Lab and Sports Centre in Orimedu, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.
Accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, and a host of notable dignitaries, the Senator conducted an inspection of the state-of-the-art facility on Sunday.
The multi-purpose facility, situated on an expansive 8,600-square-meter site near the Lekki Free Trade Zone, features a standard football pitch (90×45 feet), an indoor table tennis court with accompanying changing rooms, and a catering area.
The Innovation Lab is designed to host 200 trainees, offering co-working spaces and operational offices spread across two floors.
Prominent figures present during the inspection included Mr. Wahid Enitan Oshodi, President of the African Table Tennis Federation; Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government; Hon. Bayo Balogun, member of the House of Representatives (Ibeju-Lekki Federal Constituency); and Chief Bode Oyedele, among others.
Speaking at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Toheeb Abidemi Yissa Oyedele, the Onimedu of Orimedu Land, Senator Abiru expressed gratitude to the monarch and the community for their support.
He emphasized the importance of equipping young people with skills for the tech-driven future, stating, “The world today is driven by innovation and technology. Therefore, we must position our young ones for the enormous opportunities that this current era of innovation and tech revolution provides.”
Oba Oyedele lauded the Senator’s efforts, describing the project as a beacon of hope for the community. “The people of Orimedu and other communities in the district are proud to have Senator Abiru as their representative,” the monarch said.
Following the success of a similar project in Ikorodu, the Ibeju-Lekki facility is expected to become a hub for training, innovation, and sports development, reinforcing the Senator’s vision of a prosperous and self-reliant youth population.
