Senator Tokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has once again demonstrated his commitment to promoting religious harmony and inclusivity. He recently hosted Christians in the Senatorial District, under the auspices of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos East, for Lent sermons and prayers.
This event is particularly significant, given that Senator Abiru had previously hosted thousands of Muslims across Lagos East Senatorial for Ramadan lectures. The grand finale of the Ramadan lectures attracted prominent Islamic leaders and scholars, showcasing the Senator’s dedication to fostering unity and understanding among people of different faiths.
During the Lent sermon and prayer session, Rev. Omotoso Johnson urged Christians to emulate Senator Abiru’s example of doing good to all, regardless of their religious affiliations. He referenced Act 10 verse 38, highlighting the importance of kindness, mercy, and compassion towards fellow human beings.
Hon. Olusegun Olulade, representing Senator Abiru, emphasized the need for Christians to be steadfast in their prayers for the restoration of the nation. He quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14, stressing the importance of unity, prayer, and seeking divine guidance for leaders.
The event was attended by notable figures, including the leader of CAN in the district, Rev Joshua Ojo, and other eminent members of the Senator’s team.
Rev Ojo commended Senator Abiru for his fairness and equity in dealing with all constituents, regardless of their religious backgrounds.
This initiative is a testament to Senator Abiru’s commitment to promoting interfaith harmony and his dedication to serving the people of Lagos East Senatorial District.
