Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA (Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria), representing Lagos East District, was warmly welcomed at the World Teachers’ Day celebration held at The Teachers’ House, Methodist Schools Complex, Ikorodu.

The Senator, known for his advocacy in education and human capital development, highlighted the invaluable contributions of teachers in nation-building and societal values. Addressing the audience.

During the event Senator Abiru underscored the important role of teachers, emphasizing that sustainable national development hinges on their well-being and professional support.

“As a leader committed to global standards in human capital development, I firmly believe that investing in our teachers is paramount,” Senator Abiru affirmed. “We cannot envision a future where all children have access to quality education without first empowering our educators.”

He continued, “Through initiatives like the Lagos East Teachers Fellowship and the SAIL Innovation Lab, we have equipped thousands of teachers with modern instructional techniques, particularly the Inquiry-Based Learning Methodology. This empowers them to nurture critical thinking and creativity among students.”

Senator Abiru also highlighted the impact of STEM education initiatives for senior secondary school students in public schools near the SAIL Innovation Lab. “Our STEM Labs introduce students to cutting-edge technologies like 3-D printing, fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving early in their educational journey,” he explained. “Additionally, programs in Data Science, Tech Talent Development, Digital Marketing, and Game Development further prepare our youth for the digital economy.”

Acknowledging the challenges faced by teachers, Senator Abiru expressed gratitude for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices. “Teachers are not just educators; they are mentors and role models who shape the future of our society,” he remarked. “As we enhance physical infrastructure and educational resources, ensuring the welfare of our teachers remains a priority.”
