Senator Ned Nwoko, the lawmaker representing the Delta North Senatorial District, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 8 in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nwoko explained that his decision to leave the party was prompted by ongoing internal divisions and factionalism that he believed were detrimental to governance and to his ambition.

“I write to formally resign my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party I have proudly served as a foundation member since 1999,” Nwoko stated in his letter.

He emphasized the growing discord within the party, noting that recent physical altercations between senior party officials on January 29 exemplified the depth of disunity.

The senator expressed regret over the internal crises that have plagued the PDP, stating that they have hindered his ability to fulfill the promises he made to his constituents.

He added, “During my campaign, I made solemn and actionable promises to my constituents—commitments I take seriously as a servant of the people. Unfortunately, the current structure of the party in our state has not been conducive to fulfilling these promises.”

Despite his departure from the PDP, Nwoko reassured his constituents that his commitment to their welfare remains unchanged.

“While I bid farewell to my membership in the PDP, I assure all party members and my constituents of my unwavering dedication to statesmanship, unity, and the advancement of Delta North,” he affirmed.
