Residents of several rural communities across Epe Division are celebrating renewed hope following the completion and handover of critical development projects facilitated by the Senator representing Lagos East, Tokunbo Abiru, under his Doing Good agenda.
The projects which include two fully equipped Primary Health Centres, a block of classrooms, and 12 motorized boreholes have been described by community leaders as a “turning point” for education and healthcare delivery in the region.
In Ikosi-Ejinrin and Eredo Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), where the projects were commissioned, residents say the interventions have brought long-awaited relief to areas long plagued by poor infrastructure and limited access to essential services.
At Ado-Ikosi, a renovated and upgraded health centre now serves as the community’s first modern facility in years, equipped to handle maternal and emergency cases. Similarly, in Kula Nla, Odomola, a newly constructed Primary Health Centre is already attracting patients from surrounding villages.
The lawmaker, represented by his aide, Mr. Dele Abiru, said the projects reflect his belief that “true governance must touch the lives of ordinary citizens.”
“Education and healthcare are the bedrock of sustainable community development,” Abiru said.
“When children learn in safe classrooms and residents have access to quality medical care, every family wins, and the nation progresses.”
In Ejinrin, pupils and teachers of RCM Primary School rejoiced as they moved into a new, fully furnished block of classrooms built to enhance learning conditions. The Education Secretary for Epe LGEA, Hon. Shittu Aliu Idowu, speaking on behalf of LASUBEB Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, praised Abiru for “raising the standard of basic education” in the district.
Community leaders, including Hon. Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, and Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, Chairman of Eredo LCDA, said the projects are proof of Abiru’s people-focused leadership.
“Our Senator’s approach to representation is practical and people-driven,” Anomo said.
“He listens, identifies what matters most, and delivers.”
Residents also commended the installation of 12 new boreholes across communities such as Majidun, Imota, Ilaje, Agbowa Ikosi, Baiyeku, and Sabo Ikorodu, noting that they would ease years of water scarcity.
Since his election, Senator Abiru has facilitated dozens of constituency projects, from classrooms to ICT centres and women empowerment programmes aimed at improving living conditions across Lagos East.
His Doing Good mantra, which focuses on inclusive and sustainable development, continues to earn him praise as one of the state’s most responsive lawmakers.
