Senator Abiru Distributes 1200 Fertilizers to Boost Local Farming

 

Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, has launched a significant initiative to support local farmers by distributing 1200 fertilizers. The event, held recently, aimed to empower farmers across the district to enhance crop and vegetable cultivation.

The distribution event included practical sessions where experienced farmers received training on efficient farming practices, from backyard gardening to managing larger farmlands.

Shehu Uthman, Chairman of Mile 12 International Market and coordinator for Senator Abiru in Lagos East, emphasized the importance of using the fertilizers for farming rather than selling them. He highlighted the quality of the fertilizers provided, stressing their role in improving agricultural yields in the region.

“These fertilizers are some of the best in the country. Farmers should use them wisely to improve their agricultural yields rather than selling them.” he stated

Also, In an interview with Mr. Enitan Olukotun, media aide to Senator Abiru, it was noted that this initiative is part of Senator Abiru’s ongoing efforts to bolster food security across Lagos East Senatorial District. The fertilizers distributed were funded directly by Senator Abiru to complement national efforts towards agricultural development.

Farmers from across the district also expressed gratitude, citing tangible benefits from previous distributions and anticipating increased productivity with the new batch of fertilizers.

Oluwarotimi Ojioluwa, Chairman of the Igbo Olomu Farmers Association, praised Senator Abiru for consistently supporting practical farmers “We are happy because we’ve had significant experiences with our farming. With this fertilizer, we are confident it will greatly benefit us. I sincerely appreciate our senator for his support. This is my second time benefiting from such initiatives,” Ojioluwa remarked. “As chairman, I ensure it is shared among our members, enabling them to use it effectively, leading to good profits.” he stated


Mrs. Olufade Adenike Muslimat from Igbogbo Bayeku, a vegetable and livestock farmer, ask added “If initiatives like this had been in place earlier, perhaps we would have seen less food scarcity. Using this fertilizer on my crops will significantly boost my productivity. All thanks to Adetokunbo Abiru.”

The event was attended by notable figures such as Deaconess Wonu Oshinowo, Woman Leader of Lagos East Senatorial District, and Taiwo Akintunde Kara, Chairman of the Ikorodu Human Resources Development Board, among others.
