Senate, IGP In Closed Door Meeting Over Missing 2017 Budget

A dramatic twist appears to be unfolding over the 2017 budget as the Senate and the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris are currently in a closed door meeting in the National Assembly.

The meeting followed complaints during plenary by Senator Danjuma Goje that policemen who raided his home recently carted away several documents including the 2017 budget.

It could be recalled that the Police had on 20th April, 2016 raided Abuja residence of Senator Danjuma Goje ‎for about four hours. During the operation, many files and laptops were taken away.

Senator Goje chairman of Senate Committee on Appropriation, while briefing the plenary session on Wednesday, through point of order on the floor ‎complained about how the Police traumatised his family during the raid.

Furthermore, he added that many files which were key to early passage of 2017 budget have been taken away by the Police.‎

The IGP’s closed door meeting with Senators was still going as at the time of filing this report.
