The Nigerian Senate has approved a bill that grants salary increase for judicial officers in the country, with a 300% rise in their monthly packages.
The move comes after President Bola Tinubu forwarded an executive bill to the lawmakers, seeking to improve the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits of judicial officers and workers.
According to the bill, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) will receive a total monthly package of ₦5,385,047.26, while Justices of the Supreme Court will earn ₦4,213,192.54. The President of the Court of Appeal will receive ₦4,478,415.78, and justices of the Court of Appeal will earn ₦3,726,665.40 as reported by Naijanews.
Other judicial officers, including the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, President of the National Industrial Court, and Grand Khadi of the FCT Sharia Court of Appeal, will receive a total monthly package of ₦3,527,022.61.
