A domestic dispute turned fatal in Ibadan as 39-year-old Segun Tinubu was stabbed to death by his wife, Comfort Olajumoke Olalere Tinubu, 33, during a heated argument.
The incident reportedly took place around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the Gbeyi area of Adegbayi, Ibadan.
According to reports, the couple, married for about three years and with two children, had a disagreement that escalated when Comfort allegedly locked Olusegun out of their bedroom. The altercation reportedly intensified, ending with her stabbing him in the back.
A family member, who requested anonymity, described receiving a call shortly after the incident: “I got the call around 10:03 p.m. and was told they had fought, and she had stabbed him. He was rushed to the hospital, but about 30 minutes later, I got another call that he had died.”
The couple’s argument allegedly began when Olusegun accused Comfort of locking the bedroom door since morning, leaving him outside while she was out of the house from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The argument reportedly turned physical after Olusegun slapped her while she was breastfeeding their baby.
A relative of Olusegun, who was living with the couple due to a medical condition, intervened to break up the initial fight and advised Olusegun to sleep in the living room.
However, according to the relative, Comfort later attacked Olusegun in the living room, stabbing him in the back. Olusegun reportedly called for help and collapsed before being declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
The case was initially reported to the Gbagi Police Station but has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation.
