Segun Dada, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Digital and New Media, is the visionary behind the Progressive Digital Media Summit, a national event designed to shape the future of digital governance and youth participation in Nigeria.

Held at the Aso Villa on Friday, August 1st, 2025, the summit convened top government officials, tech innovators, digital creators, and young professionals to explore Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

Under Dada’s coordination, the event served as a bridge between the government and Nigeria’s digitally active youth, addressing key issues like internet access, digital inclusion, and misinformation.

Dada, a former digital media strategist for the APC and a long-time advocate of tech-enabled governance, used the summit to amplify the role of youth in nation-building.

His initiative reflects the Tinubu administration’s renewed focus on digital innovation as a tool for democratic engagement and national growth.

In his remarks at the event, President Tinubu, inspired by Dada’s initiative, declared that “internet access is not a privilege, but a right for all Nigerians,” signaling a potential policy shift in broadband expansion and digital equity. Through platforms like this, Segun Dada is redefining political communication in Nigeria’s digital age.

Segun Dada began his political career as a Technical Assistant to former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi and was mentored by Mr. Egghead Odewale.

A founding member of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), he played a role in the 2015 presidential election that brought Muhammadu Buhari to power and was later part of the 2019 reelection committees, including that of the First Lady.

He also briefly served as a media aide to Governor Tambuwal but resigned following Tambuwal’s defection to the PDP, remaining loyal to the APC.

Dada has held strategic roles in various gubernatorial campaigns and served as the Head of Digital Communications for the APC.

In 2022, he vied for the position of APC National Youth Leader but stepped down in deference to party decisions.

Despite this, he remained active, contributing to the success of the 2023 presidential and Lagos governorship campaigns by combating misinformation and promoting the visions of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
