Though the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu may have been granted bail at the Federal High Court Abuja on health grounds moments ago, but it appears he might just remain in jail till his trial commences due to the rigidity of the bail conditions.
BlackBox Nigeria reliably gathered that Justice Binta Nyako held that Kanu must produce three sureties, which includes; a highly placed personal of Igbo extraction such as a Senator, a well respected highly placed person who is resident in Abuja and a Jewish leader.
Supporters of the IPOB leader and observers at the court lamented that the requirements were too stringent and almost impossible to meet.
The Court also stated that the three sureties are expected to deposit a sum of N100m each and also have landed properties in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
On the part of Kanu, the Court requested for both his Nigerian and British passports. It also stated that while on bail, he is not allowed to stage a protest, rally or grant interviews as he is expected not to be in group of more than 10 people.
The Court however did not grant the three others standing trials with Kanu as they are to be in detention till the commencement of their trial.
The Court compelled the Federal Government to return the wedding ring and reading glasses of Kanu as he was returned to Kuje Prison, where he will be till his bail conditions are met.
The trial was announced to commence on July 11th.
