By The planned trip by President Muhammadu Buhari to Sambisa Forest for the Nigerian Army Small Arms Championship has been cancelled following final clearance by the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Buratai.
During the final press briefing in Maiduguri on Saturday, the COAS disclosed that the Sambisa area was yet to be cleared by the Military. 
He stated that the area has been the stronghold of the boko haram terrorists which the Nigerian Army has been battling for years.
He noted that the Small Arms Championship which is annually staged to test the marksmanship of its soldiers was specifically slated to hold in the Forest so it can strengthen it’s grip.
General Buratai announced that Defense Minister, Alhaji Mansur Dan-Ali will represent the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces at the championship.
