Sanwo-Olu wins Lagos APC guber ticket for second term

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has emerged winner of the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

BlackBox Nigeria had reported that a total of 1,198 state delegates were officially accredited to partake in the exercise held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly known as Onikan Stadium, Lagos Island on Thursday.

Sanwo-Olu, who is seeking a second term in office, polled 1,170 votes to beat his two challengers — a former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Wale Oluwo, and a former Permanent Secretary in the same ministry, Abdul-Ahmed Olorunfemi Mustapha.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the five-man Electoral Committee, Alhaji Adamu Yuguda had revealed that the governor was the only aspirant cleared to participate in the primary election. As a result, only Sanwo-Olu was present at the venue.

Reacting to the victory, the governor thanked the leadership of the Lagos APC as well as party members for their support, assuring them of his resolve to do more in the next four years.
