Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has marked the second anniversary of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line with a message of gratitude and a symbolic gesture to commuters, a 50% fare reduction for Thursday, September 4, 2025.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Sanwo-Olu reflected on the achievements of the Blue Line since its launch in 2023, describing the project as a milestone in the state’s journey towards a more efficient and safer transport system.

“Two years ago, we took a bold step with the launch of the Blue Line,” the governor said.

“Today, I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude. The line has safely transported over five million passengers without a single accident.”

According to Sanwo-Olu, the Blue Line now operates trains every ten minutes, completing more than 90 trips daily and significantly reducing travel time for Lagosians.

To celebrate the milestone, the governor announced a 50% reduction in fares on the Blue Line for Thursday, urging residents who have yet to experience the service to take advantage of the offer.

“This project belongs to all of us,” he said, thanking Lagosians for their continued trust.

“Together, we are shaping the Lagos of our future, a city where moving around is easier, safer, and faster.”

The Blue Line, part of Lagos State’s broader mass transit vision, is central to efforts to decongest road traffic and improve urban mobility.
