Sanwo-Olu Bars Heavy Duty Trucks From Eko Bridge, Builds Height Barrier

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved the installation of a height barrier at the beginning of Eko Bridge.

The height barrier, BlackBox Nigeria gathered will make it impossible for heavy duty trucks to ply the age long bridge which links a part of the mainland to the Island.

Confirming the installation, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat disclosed on Twitter that the barriers have been installed on the Costain-end of the bridge.

Earlier in the year, before the COVID19 lockdown, several trucks caused massive traffic for commuters plying the route as some of the heavy duty trucks took a potion of the bridge as they were parked for a long period of time. The presence of the trucks have added extra travel time for road users plying Costain to Apongbon on daily basis. The bridge serves as the preferred access point for vehicular traffic approaching Lagos Island from the Apapa and Surulere areas of Lagos.
