The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday announced the delivery of the Talgo Series 8 trains acquired for the Red Line system for the benefit of Lagosians’ transport.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso disclosed the delivery was in line with the government’s determination to deliver the operation of the Red Line Rail System by the first quarter of 2023.
The statement reads”I am excited to announce that the twin Talgo Intra city ten coach Metropolitan trains for the project have arrived in Lagos”
“The Talgo trains which were purchased from Milwaukee, Wisconsin consist of two train sets of 21 cars projected to carry more than 1500 passengers per train set per direction when the first phase from Agbado to Ebute Meta launches for operation.”
“As we progress towards our Quarter 1 2023 goal for the train service to come into operation as we aim to change the face of transportation in Lagos.”
Recall on the 15th of April 2021, the governor performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the Red Line Metro Project and announced it to hit major milestones.
