Sanusi Ismail, a long-time grassroots mobiliser has officially been cleared by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest in the upcoming party primary for the chairmanship seat in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, Lagos State.

According to the APC 2025 Local Government Elections screening result sheet, Ismail scored 80% in his performance evaluation, joining 20 other aspirants in the area who were also cleared to proceed to the next stage.

Born and raised in Lagos, Sanusi is widely known for his deep connection with grassroots communities and his unwavering belief in participatory governance.

His passion for public service is underpinned by over 15 years of corporate experience in the U.S. and Nigeria, where he worked as a tax consultant and business strategist.

During his career, he consulted for global brands like Toyota (via Sterling McCall Toyota Fort Bend), Walmart, Golden Choices Inc., and the City of Fort Worth, Dallas.

Educationally, Sanusi is well-grounded. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Dallas Baptist University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Healthcare Management, earned from both Dallas Baptist University and the University of Texas.

He also holds an Associate Degree in Accounting and is currently pursuing a PhD in Law and Public Policy at Walden University in the United States.

But Sanusi’s involvement in party politics dates back to 1999, when he served as a polling agent for the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ajeromi/Ifelodun.

He became actively involved with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Campaign Organization (BATCO) and the Independent Campaign Group (ICG), working for Tinubu’s emergence as Lagos governor.

Over the years, he has remained a loyal APC stalwart, offering both financial and logistical support to APC chairmanship and councillorship candidates in Amuwo-Odofin and Oriade LCDA.

In 2019, Sanusi contested for the House of Representatives seat in Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency but ceded the ticket to the late Hon. Risikat Adegeye in deference to party unity.

That sacrifice further cemented his image as a loyal party man and disciplined democrat.

His fresh bid for the APC chairmanship ticket in Amuwo-Odofin is widely viewed as a continuation of his longstanding mission: to ensure quality representation and improved grassroots development.
