Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to a trophy-laden spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old announced his decision in an emotional video message shared on Tuesday, describing the moment as difficult and expressing deep attachment to the club, the city and its supporters.

Salah, who joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, is widely regarded as one of the club’s greatest players.

During his nine-year stay, he scored 255 goals in 435 appearances and helped the team win major honours, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup titles.

Despite having a contract that runs until 2027, both the player and the club agreed on an early departure, according to reports.

His exit is expected to come on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Salah’s announcement follows a season marked by mixed performances and reported tensions with manager Arne Slot, which had fuelled speculation about his future.

In his farewell message, the forward thanked fans and teammates, noting that Liverpool would “always be his home.”

Liverpool are yet to confirm his next destination, although clubs in Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer have been linked with a possible move.

The club is expected to honour Salah’s legacy before the end of the season, as supporters prepare to bid farewell to one of the most influential players in its modern history.
