The SAIL Innovation Lab, backed by the SAIL Empowerment Foundation, has joined forces with Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) to launch a tech-focused training initiative for students.
Located in Ikorodu, the Innovation Lab founded by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly and his wife, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru is designed as a catalyst for human capital development, equipping young minds with essential digital skills and the know-how to excel in today’s digital-driven economy.
The training, which begins with LASUSTECH’s College of Engineering and Technology, introduces students to high-demand fields, including Generative AI, software development, data science, machine learning, blockchain, and more. With its vision to mold tech-savvy leaders, the SAIL Lab has already made a significant impact, benefiting over 10,000 young Nigerians.
The programs, offered entirely free to qualified candidates, signal the Foundation’s commitment to removing barriers and democratizing access to cutting-edge digital education.
Senator Abiru, at the opening of the “Dare to Dream” Boot Camp and Tech Summit, emphasized the critical role of digital skills in global economic shifts, underscoring his passion for nurturing young innovators. He noted the rapidly evolving global business environment shaped by technological advances, urging students to seize the opportunity to master emerging fields like AI, robotics, big data, and blockchain.
“You are the next generation of leaders, innovators, and creators,” he told the audience, nearly 1,000 strong. “The tools we’re placing in your hands today will help you navigate and shape the future, addressing societal challenges and creating new economic pathways for Nigeria.”
Senator Abiru also announced the donation of high-end laptops to five standout participants from the boot camp, underscoring his hands-on approach to empowering young talent.
