By Sad tale of love gone sour in the royal house
It was rather unpleasant to read about endings to wonderful love stories and today is one of those days.
This is not the best of times for the household of Oluwo of Iwoland, OBA Adbulrasheed Adewale Akanbi as his marriage to Jamaican beauty, Queen Chanel has packed up like a bunch of badly arranged cards.
The seemingly loving duo who have been described by many as couple goals called it quits over the weekend.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oluwo’s Palace, Alli Ibraheem, the flamboyant monarch outrighlty stated that he has parted ways with Chanel.
“This is to inform the general public, most especially friends and associates of the Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, that Ms Chanel Chin is an ex-queen of his majesty,” the statement read in part.
The statement further disclosed that the couple called it quits “for personal irreconcilable differences” while also warning the public not to have any transaction with Chanel in her former capacity as the queen.
Personal irreconcilable differences? Like really? How did they get that far apart?
The embattled Queen Chanel has however fired back saying that contrary to the rumours flying about that the controversial king dumped her, the reverse is actually the case as she chose to walk away from the union. She further begged for caution while stating that she chose not to make any statements at the moment because of her young son, Oduduwa.
Chanel Chin was born in Toronto, Canada to a British mother and Jamaican father. Her father was was a top reggae music star. She married Oba Akanbi on November 10, 2015 shortly after he ascended the throne as the Oluwo.
This is not the first time a young Yoruba monarch would be parting ways with their Olori. In 2017 and barely one year into their marriage, cerebral Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Adeyeye also parted ways with his wife, Olori Wuraola who now goes by her maiden name; Zaynab Otiti Obanor.
Here is hoping Queen Chanel and her estranged boo find happiness in their new lives.
